Elegant, beautiful, antique Mason’s patent ironstone decorative wall hanging plate.
According to its marks, this plate dates from 1891-1914, since the word “England” was
added to the ark in 1891.
It has a decorative and charming designs, with lots of gold accents. Many of the colors
and designs are based on early Imari pieces.
According to researches, Mason’s Ironstone Ware China pieces today, are avidly sought
by collector’s all over the world.
There is no Iron found in the ironstone China, its name derives from its strength and durability.
Ironstone was patented, first, by the British potter, Charles James Mason in 1813.
On this particular rare piece, besides the Mason’s mark, there are a lot of other numbers and
letters engraved , which are for sure familiar to English irionstone China collector’s.
Has a golden scalloped rim.
I have purchased it from an antique shop in Brighton, England, in 1978. And since then,
I had proudly displayed it on my dining room wall, with some other antique plates, in a
non smocking environment.
Dimensions : 10 1/4” Round.
Comes with its original wall hanging hardware.
